Luke Morris
industrialist and philanthropist and, uhh, bicyclist.
Hey! I’m Luke Morris
I’m a 34-year-old electrician and communications/security technician from Ipswich, Australia. My work is hands-on, technical, and full of problem-solving—which suits me perfectly because I love tackling challenges and making systems run smoothly. There’s nothing better than fixing a tricky issue and seeing a happy client at the end of the day.
Beyond Work: My Passions
When I’m not wiring buildings or troubleshooting tech systems, you’ll usually find me diving into my other passions: cycling, coffee, travel, and above all, film photography. I’m obsessed with exploring different cameras, experimenting with film stocks, following my favourite YouTubers (@pushingfilm, @grainydaysss, @jameshoffman, @mattdavella), and hunting for the next great deal on FB Marketplace.
Why I Love Film Photography
What captivates me most about shooting on film is the entire process—from carefully composing a shot, understanding how light interacts with film, to waiting for my rolls to be developed and delivered digitally by my local lab. While digital photography often focuses on sharpness and pixels, film has a unique character and timeless quality that I truly love. Some shots just feel better with grain, texture, and that classic film look.
Travel, Photography & Life Adventures
Thanks to work and life changes, I’ve been fortunate to travel more—both around Australia and internationally. I got married in late 2023, and now I have a travel partner who also shares my love for photography. (Pro tip: gifting a Nikon FE for our first anniversary made photowalks twice as fun!)
Traveling has opened up amazing opportunities: exploring new film communities, discovering local film shops, connecting with fellow photographers, and even adding rare cameras and lenses to my collection.
